Bridal Shower Special Touches
Every bride wants to feel special and spoiled at her bridal shower. It's also fun to get the bride blushing. A little bit of creativity can go a long way towards making the shower very special. Try a few of these ideas at your shower and it will add extra sparkle!
Words of Wisdom
At the beginning of the shower, start passing around a notebook. In it, ask people to write some advice for the new bride. If the advice was originally written on nice stationary, you can leave it as is. If not, you may want to type it and print it on nice stationary. Before the wedding, while the bride is getting ready, present her with this. It will touch her heart and she will always be able to look back at it. Note: After she has read it, make sure to tuck it away in a safe place since the bride won't likely have a chance to take it home before she leaves for her honeymoon. It is a good idea to make a photocopy of the advice beforehand just in case.
Thank-you Photo Memories
As each guest arrives or departs, take a picture of the bride with the guest. Have double prints made of the pictures. One set will be for the bride to keep and other to include in thank-you notes to the guests. Each guest and the bride will then have a special memory to treasure.
Disposable Cameras or Designated Photographer
Disposable cameras are becoming very popular at wedding receptions, so why not at showers? Have 1 camera per 5 guests. Let people know that they can take pictures. This will capture a lot of different perspectives. Giving the cameras to young girls that attend might show you some things you never really thought about. If this is not done, make sure that at least one person is designated as the photographer. The hostess will likely be too busy to take pictures and the bride will definitely want photo memories of her shower.
Bow Bouquet
Take a paper plate and bunch a small hole in the middle. While the bride is opening her gifts, someone can take the bows and tape them on to the plate. The ribbons drop through the hole in the center and are used as a handle. At the end of the shower, give this to the bride so that she can carry it at the wedding rehearsal.
Gift Recorder
While the bride-to-be is opening her gifts, have a designated person write down each gift and who it was from. Not only will it make a nice memory, it will make writing those thank-you notes a lot easier! A printable gift recording worksheet is available here.
Comments Note-taker
Have another person taking notes while the bride opens her gifts. This person will write down various comments the bride says while opening and inspecting gifts. For example, "Wow! It's so cute!" Then after all the gifts are opened, the note-taker can read the bride's comments back letting people know that this is a prophesy of her wedding night. Imagine how the innocent phrase "Wow! It's so cute!" can refer to other things when taken in a sexual light. She'll be blushing in no time. While the bride may know that this sometimes happens, be sure to never mention it to her and have the note-taker be discreet.
Corsage for Bride
The hostess of the party may buy a small corsage for the bride to wear at the shower. It will automatically help her feel special and energized and makes a nice keepsake.
